Quick Guidance Notes

Stage 1

You’ll be asked to create a user name and password for your online St Anselm account – which will guide you through the entire application process.

  • Once you’ve started your application, you will be able to contact us and receive messages from our applications team via the secure message box on your account.
  • The application form needs to be completely filled in before you can submit your application.
  • Once it’s complete, you can no longer make changes to your application, but you can see the progress of your application.
  • We will process all applications on a rolling basis, but please note that the pace the various reviews of your application takes place is not indicative of the success (or otherwise) of your application.
  • Your application will be thoughtfully and prayerfully reviewed by an international team of reviewers, who will be sifting through applications from all over the world.
  • Each application is normally read by three reviewers.

Stage 2

If you are invited to continue the application process (sadly we won't be able to invite everyone to the second stage of application, due to the large number of applications we receive), you will be invited to complete a second form, which will allow you to tell us about yourself and your journey of faith in more detail. We’ll also be taking up references at this stage. You will receive specific instructions via email.

Stage 3

Our final shortlist of applicants will be chosen based on putting together a cohort that is representative of the diversity of the Church, as well as on the particular gift mix and personal characteristics of our applications.

If selected, you’ll be invited to take part in an interview over Skype. If you have concerns about internet connectivity, please let us know and we will discuss a solution that suits your particular circumstance.

With 16 residential places and up to 40 non-residential places available, we are likely to be heavily oversubscribed. We will sadly be turning down a very large number of highly suitable and to suitable and prayerful people, due to those restrictions.

International applications

Due to visa restrictions, we are able to sponsor a limited number of visas for Resident Members only. If you don't currently have permission to live and work in the UK, we recommend that you consider applying for Resident membership, or let us know if you are in the UK on another visa (such a student or working visa) valid at least until July 2019.
